Chickens in Tokyo City

Tokyo, Japan
Well, I finally made it back from NYC to Shanghai.  I left on Tuesday morning and got in Thursday afternoon!  I wound up stuck in Tokyo for a night because of a typhoon in Shanghai. I was exhausted, and in a mental fog from the long trip, but when I found out we were stuck in Tokyo I was excited. “Shibuya here I come!”  But no, I wound up an hour from Tokyo and an hour from the airport.  The airline put us up at a Hilton, which while out of the way at least sounded nice…until I got off the elevator and saw this:

Chickens….everywhere…chickens in the hall, chickens in my room, chickens in the shower.  Half asleep, and in a total haze, I chalked it up to “cultural differences” and went downstairs for a Kirin.  I was told there was a great bar called “TGI Fridays” two monorail stops down. This, of course, added to my confusion.  “Who recommends TGI Fridays as the go to spot and why does this town have a monorail???” I had to find out, I was on a mission.  I left the hotel and within steps, BAM! Mission accomplished. I was at Tokyo Disney Land. Mickey and Mini were hanging out just outside my hotel and in the distance I could see Space Mountain. I don’t know why they neglected to tell us, but it didn’t matter. I hopped on the monorail and headed to Ikspiari to find Fridays, which not surprisingly, was not nearly as fun as advertised. I did find a place called the “Old Owl” however, if you ever end up at Tokyo Disney Land check this place out, great frozen beers.
